Rick Manglinong

Ricardo Manglinong was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States with his family as a young boy. His martial arts journey began in 1970, training in boxing under the guidance of his father. He later expanded his skills by earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Rick’s introduction to Filipino Martial Arts began in his teenage years when he started studying Modern Arnis under Grandmaster Remy Presas. By 1977, he was teaching the Professor’s art and continued to deepen his knowledge over the decades. In 1995, he met Grandmaster Ernesto Presas and became a dedicated student of Kombatan. GM Ernesto promoted him to lakan siyam (ninth-degree black belt) during the 2007 IPMAF Camp, where Ricardo was also inducted into the Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame and honored with the prestigious Kampilan Award.

Today, Ricardo and his wife, Christina Manglinong—herself a respected martial artist—serve as the lead instructors at their school, Manglinong Martial Arts, located in Stateline, Nevada.
